Have you heard of brandied fruit?  It’s a perfect way to sneak in some booze with your dessert.  Or, if you want a semi-healthy snack that’s extra tasty, you can whip out a couple of these to enjoy. I’m not sure if boozy snacks can be healthy, but hey, it’s fruit!

How to Throw a Halloween Bash

The scarecrows are up, the apples have been picked, the Jack-O-Lanterns are on display, and the costume shopping has started.  Halloween is right around the corner. And what better way to celebrate than to throw a party! 

Here are some of my favorite go-tos when hosting a party for Halloween – everything from cocktails to games.  So here goes:

Bacon and Beer Classic

Enjoy a night at the Harborside in Jersey City for three hours of all you can eat bacon and all you can drink craft beer. Try pork belly sliders, chocolate bacon cupcakes, fistfuls of bacon, bacon cheesecake, spicy Siracha pork ramen, and Kentucky fried bacon bites.  There will be over 65 craft breweries serving up anything from hoppy IPAs, to sours, to ciders.  There will also be some spirits on tap for you non-beer drinkers.  Who are you anyway?! Let’s taco ‘bout it! 

The NJ Taco Fest will bring you the best tacos sourced locally, a Margarita mix-down, a Chihuahua costume contest, beer and more!

To select the restaurant with the Tri-State area’s #1 taco there will be a panel of Media Personalities, Food Writers, Celebrity Chefs, and YOU to determine who will take home the gold in five different categories. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded for the following taco categories: beef taco, chicken taco, pork taco, seafood taco, and best veggie taco.  There will also be a spicy taco of hell challenge so you can compete and take home the gold as well!

Game of Thrones Brunch

The Radegast Hall & Biergarten will be hosting a Game of Thrones Brunch this weekend – An immersive medieval banquet where you can eat alongside knights, wenches, lords and lasses.  There will be a brunch buffet as well as an open bar.  The open bar consists of 2 hour unlimited beer, wine, Mimosas, and Bloody Marys.  There is also a dinner package serving a buffet dinner and the option to purchase an alcohol package that consists of beer, wine, and one cocktail. Although, it’s not required, you should definitely show up in your best medieval costume.  There will be music, dancing, and a lot of ale drinking.

The Joy of Sake – New York

The Joy of Sake is returning to New York to celebrate their 15th annual celebration of sake, paired with traditional and contemporary cuisine.  There will be over 500 premium labels of sake to taste as well as appetizers from 18 of New York’s finest Asian restaurants.  Tickets for this event are $110 per person and include unlimited sake tastings, and a dish from every restaurant in attendance.

Vinegar is a liquid that can be used for just about anything in your kitchen.  Need to clean your coffee dispenser? Vinegar.  Salad dressings? Vinegar. Marinades? Vinegar. Fatty dishes?  Add some vinegar.

The Wizard’s Brunch and Dinner – NYC
