On This Day in History

January 16th, 1919

On January 16, 1919 the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, prohibiting the “manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors for beverage purposes” was ratified and officially went into effect on January 17, 1920.  Prohibition was now a part of the Constitution, and the stockpiling began.

The Brewer’s Advent Calendar Sold At Costco!

Costco is at it again!

The holiday season has yet to begin and advent calendars are already being sold.  This time instead of a chocolate or wine calendar, behind each door is a can of craft German beer!  Kalea, the makers of this wonderful advent calendar are trying to promote small craft breweries from all over Germany that you cannot typically find in stores.  This gives you a chance to try something new and rave about it to all your friends…in which they probably can’t purchase it in stores.

The Beer Run

A 5K & Craft Beer Run

Sunday, October 13th, 2019
Allaire, New Jersey

Take a run or stroll through the 1700’s village of Allaire, New Jersey and celebrate crossing the finish line with a beer fest! Because running is always better with beer, right?

The Historic Village of Allaire used to be an iron-producing factory-town, home to Howell Iron Works, Co. The town consisted of a pattern-making shop, blacksmith, post office, general store, school, church, and the mills that were used to finish the iron products produced. It was a small, self-sufficient town which has now been transformed into an interactive museum.

The Beer Run is a 5K run or walk through the historic town of Allaire and beautiful natural trails nearby. When you cross the finish line you will be handed a tasting glass so you can reward yourself with some beer from 12+ local breweries. There will also be live music, lawn games, and food trucks! It’s a party for sure, and you’ve earned it.

Tickets for the Beer Run include race registration, beer, a tasting glass, and access to the live music, food trucks and lawn games. You can also purchase tickets strictly for the beer fest. Or, you can purchase tickets for the run and be the designated driver. REGISTER HERE and enjoy the Beer Run!

See you there!
Cheers,
Danyelle

A Toast to IPA Day – Ten Hoppy Facts

This is by far my favorite holiday of all time. No matter the season, there is an IPA for any day of the year, and I’m drinking it.

One of the most popular styles of beer, the IPA or India Pale Ale is a hoppy style pale ale that comes in many different varieties.  Once known to only have high ABVs, IPAs now range from about 4% all the way up to 12% for alcohol by volume.  From a session IPA to the Triple IPA, the vast production of this beer lends itself to just about any craft beer lover.  This summer my favorite IPAs to drink have been the Slightly Mighty by Dogfish, my go-to Founders All Day IPA, and Other Half Forever Ever.
