Mother's Day Cocktails

For Mother’s Day this year, try sprucing up your brunch was some beautiful cocktails sure to impress.  Whether your mother is a gin drinker, loves tequila, or simply likes to pop bubbly – look no further for the perfect recipe to celebrate her day.  And when you’re surrounded by your love ones, make sure to raise up your glasses and cheers to the strong woman who made you who you are today!

Cranberry Pear Prosecco Martini

Ingredients:

  • Chilled Prosecco
  • Cranberry juice
  • Pear Nectar
  • Pear slices

Directions: Fill your flute glass halfway with chilled prosecco.  Then, fill the glass 1/3 of the way with cranberry juice, and another 1/3 of the way with pear nectar.  Splash a bit of prosecco on top and garnish with pear slices.

Cucumber Tequila Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 3 ounces of fresh cucumber juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces of lime juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces of tequila
  • Sugar (~1/4-1/2 a teaspoon per drink)
  • club soda (~3 ounces)
  • lime and cucumber wedges for garnish

Directions: Fill a small glass with ice and pour in the cucumber juice, lime juice, tequila, and sugar.  Mix all of the ingredients together and top with club soda. Garnish with cucumber and lime wedges and enjoy.

Strawberry Rose Gin Fizz

Ingredients:

  • 6 large strawberries
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 4 shots gin
  • 1 teaspoon rose water
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup club soda (or, to taste)

Directions: Wash and destem the strawberries then dice into small pieces.  Place the diced strawberries in a cup, top with sugar, and let them sit for five minutes.  Then, muddle the strawberries to release their juices.  Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the strawberry mixture, gin, rose water and a pinch of salt.  Shake well and divide into two glasses.  Top off each glass with some club soda and garnish with a lime and strawberry.

Cherry Sangria

Ingredients:

  • 750 ml bottle of Moscato
  • 1/3 cup of Amaretto Liqueur
  • 1 12 oz. bag of frozen cherries
  • White soda (Sprite or Sierra Mist) (optional)

Directions: Mix the wine, amaretto, and cherries together and let sit overnight.  When ready to serve, top with white soda and garnish with cherries.  Simple as that!

Mom’s Old Fashioned

Ingredients:

  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1/2 ounce sugar syrup (recipe above)
  • 2 ounces whisky
  • Orange peel
  • Fresh baby’s breath flowers (for garnish)

Directions: Mix all ingredients in a glass with ice until well-chilled.  Strain into a rocks glass over a large cube of ice.  Squeeze the orange peel over the top of the glass and discard.  Garnish with a sprig of baby’s breath or any flower your mom likes.
