It’s National Daiquiri Day!
If you have been smashing Daiquiris at your local beach bar, you are probably used to the popular frozen cocktail mixed with limeades, sweeteners, and other mixers. A refreshing cocktail, packed with sugar that is NOT a true Daiquiri. The Classic Daiquiri is actually a simple rum-based cocktail that has been altered in so many ways over the past years that most people don’t even know what the true recipe actually contains – rum, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup.
Since the Daiquiri has such a simple foundation, it lends itself well to fresh fruits, spices, and other flavorful ingredients. You can also use many different kinds of rums and ratios. Here are a few rums favorited amongst top bartenders: Plantation Three Star, Cana Brava, and Casa Magdalena.
To stay true to the Daiquiri and enjoy the holiday properly, enjoy this simple recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ oz. white rum
- ½ oz. simple syrup
- 1 oz. lime juice
Directions: Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake well. Strain into a well-chilled glass.
Enjoy!
Cheers,
Danyelle
