#HotButteredRum Day

Join thousands on this cold day in January in drinking one of the most delicious hot beverages, sure to put you in a fantastic mood and warm your soul.

Hot Buttered Rum is a cocktail containing rum, butter, hot water or cider, sweetener and spices.  This concoction dates back to the 1650s when Jamaica began importing molasses to Colonial America, and New England began opening distilleries.  Hot Toddies, Egg Nog, and Hot Buttered Rum were all created with a little love from the production of rum.

Enjoy this Hot Buttered Rum Batter:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. butter
  • 1 lb. brown sugar
  • 1 lb. confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 q. vanilla ice cream softened
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:  Melt butter in a large pot and then add the brown sugar and confectioners’ sugar.  Blend well, take off heat, and add the ice cream, cinnamon, and nutmeg.  Place in container and freeze.

When you are ready to indulge, measure one tablespoon of Hot Buttered Rum Batter and 1 ounce of rum and place in mug.  Fill the rest of the cup with boiling water, stir and garnish with nutmeg.

This batter can be left in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Enjoy!

Cheers,

Danyelle

Meet me at the bar. Whether it’s barbells, whiskey libraries, rum sanctuaries, or craft breweries…I’ll see you there. I travel far and wide for a good IPA, I can get down with a good Manhattan, and home is where the wine is. If my taste buds are pleased, you’ll know about it. Oh, and I like to lift. So, enjoy my fitness journey with a glass of wine.
