The New Jersey Division of Alcohol beverage Control just slapped a “special ruling’ (of new regulations) on the 88 New Jersey’s craft breweries and people are not happy about it. The state is now controlling what brewery owners are allowed to do in terms of events, food, and private parties.
Here are the new regulations:
- Breweries are now only allowed to have 25 “special events” such as trivia night, sporting events, live music, etc.
- Breweries are limited to 12 special permits a year to be able to sell products off the brewery premises. This goes for festivals, athletic events, and conventions.
- Want to hold a private party at a brewery? Book it now! Breweries can only have 52 private parties a year.
- The ABC must be notified 10 days prior to an event being held at a brewery.

One positive thing out of these new regulations placed on breweries is they are now allowed to sell goods such as water, soda, crackers, nuts, etc. Customers are still allowed to bring their own food which is good because there will no longer be food trucks or food vendors allowed. That’s the flip side…
This is rough! How do you feel about these new regulations? Limiting live music at breweries? I think that’s rubbish!
Let us know what you think.
Cheers,
Danyelle
